AADMM – Website information/options

Possible solutions:

#1 – WordPress based website with a membership plugin (such as Membership Works)

#2 – Dedicated membership platform (such as Wild Apricot, **note – I had mentioned Brilliant Directories as a possible solution but upon further examination in preparing this presentation, I think that it is lacking in some features that there better solutions out there – namely, the two mentioned above.))

 

Pros and Cons

Option #1

Pros

  • WordPress allows for the most customization of the “website” portion (meaning articles, layout, visual elements, etc.)
  • WordPress would allow the integration of other plugins as needed/desired

Cons

  • The bookkeeping/backend of a dedicated membership platform may be easier and more “elegant” to manage (but MembershipWorks fully integrated seems to override this problem)

 

Option #2

Pros

  • a fully featured membership platform which doesn’t need to integrate with anything else (self-contained)
  • easy access/manageability for treasurer/etc., and extensive tutorials, so most likely you wouldn’t need to pay for additional help/hosting/web maintenance except for major/special changes.

Cons

  • limitations as to the visual layout
  • possible limitations to the addition of other features

MembershipWorks – Option #1

Fully featured membership software (can have built into WordPress – an excellent, stable option)

$99 per month built into WordPress (They also have a $79 per month option as well – where you would install it yourself into WordPress – but this $99 per month hosted/integrated option overrides the downfalls to using a WordPress plugin – namely WordPress conflicts, issues with updates and “user-friendliness” of the backend/admin panel.)
